QTS’s Atlanta data center is located at 1033 Jefferson St., Atlanta, GA 30318. The Atlanta data center is one of the largest data centers in the world with massive facility features. The facility has a wind rating of 85 MPH and is a concrete and brick structure with reinforced steel. QTS offers space options from single cabinets to multi rack cages to private suites.
The data center is a 970,000 square foot facility of enclosed space with 531,000 as data center space. The data center provides 358,000 square feet of 48 inch raised floor and abundant space for customer offices and conference rooms. The Georgia data center is SSAE 16 Type II certified and USGBC Leed gold partner. The facility has excellent security measures with perimeter security fence, security guards, CCTV monitoring, and single site entrance with security office and security check in. All building entrances requires card key access while the data center requires key card and two factor biometric authentication including finger print and iris scan.
A total of 120 MVA of utility power is delivered to the facility by Georgia Power. Electrical redundancy is achieved through two feeds from separate substations that power three on site 40 MVA transformers. The emergency power is provided through 16 independent UPS systems that are supported by 36 generators. All power cabling below floors is installed in either conduit or sealtight flexible conduit with approved connectors to all equipment. The facility is equipped with over 600, 30 and 70 Tons CRAC units to effectively moderate cooling and humidity in the data center. Leak detection systems are under all raised floors with drains to remove water. The multi-stage protection via pre action dry fire suppression system with VESDA, and smoke sensors above and below the raised floor are installed in the facility for safety. Air temperature, humidity, fire detection and water pressure are managed by automated control systems, which pages all alert situations to trained facility engineers.
The data center is a carrier neutral facility providing access to multiple providers for local fiber and Internet connectivity. The QTS data center has diverse fiber entrances into the building including multiple central office redundancy. QTS metro connect services offer connectivity to providers in 56 Marietta (Carrier Hotel). Internal cabling, copper, coax or fiber access, to carrier bandwidth using cable management systems throughout the facility. The engineers are trained to control and maintain all critical facility components, and are available by pager.
