Located in Mooresville, NC in a northern suburb of Metro Charlotte, their newest data center benefits from its unique location. Their facility has a Heavy Power Distribution Substation located on premises, and is directly connected to the two Duke Energy power generation plants south of Lake Norman, ensuring high capacity access to North Carolina’s highest availability network and plentiful green and renewable hydro energy at below 4.2 cents per kWh. A carrier-neutral facility supporting multi-tenant colocation, access is provided to several major long-haul fiber carriers and their MPLS networks is delivered through diverse route entry into dual Meet-Me rooms.
GIGA Data Centers is converting the existing building into a data center fully compliant to Tier III standards, with total capacity available up to 3,000 racks/cabinets and 60-90 megawatts of power. Phase 1 will be operational by March 2019, and will use GIGA’s proprietary WindChill(tm) modular enclosure system. Each enclosure provides a ten (10) rack/cabinet suite that can support power densities from 4kW up to 50kW, yet still deliver a true PUE of 1.15 – guaranteed. Each WindChill(tm) enclosure supports either 19″ or 24″ racks or cabinets up to 52U height. Incremental megawatts of capacity can be provisioned within 90 to 120 days.
