The immediate power failure is protected by UPS system that has enough battery units for providing the backup power with automatic transfer of the entire power load to 2 MW onsite dedicated diesel generator within seconds on the loss of utility power. The generators are regularly tested with preventive maintenance, onsite fuel storage for several days of operation, and refueling contracts with local vendors. Each cabinet is individually breakered, and includes a 12-outlet vertical power strip to preserve the full 42U vertical rack space available in each cabinet. The cooling and humidity in the data center is controlled through redundant HVAC units with cold aisle/hot aisle design.
The data center is a carrier neutral facility with connectivity from many different carriers. The facility provides at least one cable connection to Hurricane Electric switch that is connected to core routers. Roof access is available for customers needing antennas. Hurricane Electric provides up to 10 free cross connect for each customer linking to other transit providers and carriers. 24x7x365 NOC staff provides helpdesk and support services, and remote hands services.
