The Orlando DataSite data center is located at S. John Young Pkwy, in a freestanding building with an area measuring 17 acres and 60 miles inland. The facility is elevated 8 feet above the surrounding land, 100 feet above the sea level and outside the 500-year floodplain. The data center building is a single story building constructed through 8 inches of thick steel enforced concrete walls. The building rated as 160 MPH wind resistant and certified roof has a total of 130,000 square feet of covered area and 85,000 square feet of data center space with a complete windowless exterior. The data center has a single access point for all the visitors with biometric and keycard access to the data center, 24×7 security guards, video surveillance, and vehicle blockades and equipment checks.
Power to the data center is designed for 100% availability of resources and is maintained by two diverse 12.47 Kv underground utility feeds and two independent high voltage sub stations on separate power grids. The N+1 or 2N configured UPS provides backup power to the facility for up to 45 minutes in the event there was a loss of utility power, which is double the time of the industry standard, allowing smooth and immediate backup power by three x 2.8 MW jet turbine generators in an N+1 design with 72 hours of run time before needing to be refueled. A massive N+1 chiller plant and 20 tons CRAH units are equipped to deliver redundant cool air and chilled water for optimum performance and protection of equipment. The dry pipe, pre-action fire suppression system is capable of extinguishing fire above and below the raised floor.
The data center facility is SSAE 16 type II certified with 36 inch raised floors provides a safe and reliable infrastructure with multiple power and fiber feeds. DataSite offers colocation cabinets, cages built to exact customer specifications, and custom data center suites to meet customer demands. DataSite provides network neutral access to major telecommunication carriers and Internet backbones that allow data center clients to select vendors, networks and protocols without proprietary or other carrier-specific constraints. The data center utilizes the use of cold side and hot side configurations, with daily tape rotation services for recording backup of all services and data. The DataSite has configured a metered power facility enabling them to only charge clients for the amount of actual services used. The remote hands services are provided and strictly followed as per client’s instruction, with a dedicated staff that are available for providing Level 1 and Level 2 support.
