Windstream’s Houston data center is located at 12105 I-45 North, Houston, Texas 77002. The data center is 20 miles north of Houston in the Greenspoint Technology Center. Houston Data Center delivers the highest level of security, safety, redundancy, reliability, scalability and technology. The building is masonry and steel construction, and hurricane wind rated roof.
Houston data center is a Tier I infrastructure. The colocation services are provided through cabinets, caged space, and raised floor private data center suites. All the cage locks require unique laser etched keys with magnetic signatures to get access. Houston data center provides 15,000 square feet of space including 5,000 square feet of 24 to 36 inches high raised floor with 1250 lbs. per square feet load bearing capacity. The data center is SSAE 16 SOC I Type II certified. The data center has a very secure environment including 24 x 7 physical security, and sensor driven camera monitoring and recording of all the areas. Two factor authentication that include the use of biometric hand scanners verify unique hand geometry image and a heat signature before allowing entry into data center. The data center uses a FM 200 and dry-pipe, multi zone pre-action sprinkler system.
The data center has a very reliable and scalable power infrastructure, and is a 2N or system plus redundancy design. The power distribution systems ensure that every power circuit delivered to a customer’s cabinet is clean and isolated from other customer circuits. Houston facility maintains 4 x 300 kVA PDUs, and has an A-side and B-side input source and is capable of switching between power sources. Each customer cabinet has a redundant A-side and B-Side power feeds. The immediate power failure is protected by 2N configured UPS system with battery bank. The 2000 kW Kohler diesel generator with 4000 gallons fuel storage onsite provides the back up facility on the loss of utility power. The cooling and humidity is maintained through 8 x Liebert CRAC units in N+1 configuration. The data center has Liebert water leak detection system, and also installed with Foreseer and JACE building management system to monitor all critical infrastructure.
Houston data center is a carrier neutral facility. Windstream has actively deployed a 40 wavelength system providing up to 10G channels that provides backbone connectivity between Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Tyler, Nacogdoches, and Beaumont.. The network infrastructure is Cisco certified core network, and access to Windstream MPLS network. Windstream utilize Internet and MPLS connectivity via multiple fiber routes in and out of colocation, as well as diverse paths to the Internet. Windstream utilizes a suite of monitoring tools and methods to provide proactive notification of server or service affecting events. 24 x 7 x 365 TAC center provides help desk services to the customers, and also continuously monitors critical events. Windstream Business provides customized business solution including data, voice, MPLS networking, phone systems and data centers; and residential solutions including high-speed Internet, digital TV, and phone services.
