TierPoint’s Chicago data center is located at 601 W. Polk Chicago, IL 60607. Located in the South Loop of the Chicago Central Business District, facility is the premier mission critical data center and telecommunications facility in the Midwest. The building is masonry and steel construction. Chicago data center delivers the highest level of security, safety, redundancy, reliability, scalability and technology.
The colocation services are provided through cabinets and caged space. All the cage locks require unique laser etched keys with magnetic signatures to get access. The data center provides 89,000 square feet of space including 15,650 square feet of 36 inches high raised floor with 1200 lbs. per square feet load bearing capacity. The data center is SSAE 16 SOC I Type II certified. The data center has a very secure environment including 24 x 7 physical security, and sensor driven camera monitoring and recording of all the areas. Two factor authentications that include the use of biometric hand scanners verify unique hand geometry image and a heat signature before allowing entry into data center. The data center has pre action dry pipe fire suppression with VESDA control for life and equipment safety.
The data center has a very reliable and scalable power infrastructure, and is a 2N or system plus redundancy design. 2500 kVA of initial distribution capacity with each cabinet served with redundant A-side and B-side power feeds. The immediate power failure is protected by 2N configured multiple MGE 8000 UPS system and automatic transfer to 2 x 2000 Cummins diesel generators with 2000 gallons of fuel storage onsite. The N+2 configured CRAH units provides approximately 500 tons of cooling capacity. The raised floor provides static pressure cooling from below to ensure efficient and effective cooling of computer equipment. The data center has grid of smoke and heat sensors in ceilings and below floors. The building management system is installed to monitor all critical infrastructure and activities.
Chicago data center is a carrier neutral facility and provides access to multiple network and service providers. This facility offers access to the CME/LNET Exchanges, direct access to SFTI Network and other carriers via fiber to other suites within the building. The network infrastructure is Cisco certified core network, and access to TierPoint MPLS network. TierPoint utilize Internet and MPLS connectivity via multiple fiber routes in and out of colocation, as well as diverse paths to the Internet. 24 x 7 x 365 NOC provides the helpdesk support and monitors all the critical components.
