TierPoint’s Andover data center is located at 15 Shattuck Road, Andover, MA 01810. The data center is strategically located outside of severe weather and seismic zone, and is rated to withstand hurricane force winds. The building is masonry and steel construction with ballistic resistant walls, doors, and windows.
Andover data center is a Tier III infrastructure. The colocation services are provided through cabinets, caged space, and raised floor private data center suites. All the cage locks require unique laser etched keys with magnetic signatures to get access. Andover data center provides 92,700 square feet of space including 40,000 square feet of 24 and 36 inches high raised floor with 1200 lbs. per square feet load bearing capacity. The data center is SSAE 16 SOC I Type II certified. The data center has a very secure environment including 24 x 7 physical security, and sensor driven camera monitoring and recording of all the areas. Two factor authentications that include the use of biometric hand scanners verify unique hand geometry image and a heat signature before allowing entry into data center. Double man trap forces double verification and provide extra secure data center entry. The Andover Data Center uses a gas agent fire suppressant and dry-pipe, pre-action sprinkler system with multiple VESDA controls. The system utilizes a grid work of smoke and heat sensors both in the ceiling and below floors.
The data center has a very reliable and scalable power infrastructure, and is a 2N or system plus redundancy design. The power distribution systems ensure that every power circuit delivered to a customer’s cabinet is clean and isolated from other customer circuits. The immediate power failure is protected by N+1 configured, 4 x 500 kW GE UPS system with battery bank. Diverse and redundant commercial power feeds from national grid substation into 4 x 1500 KVA pad mounted transformers. The 5 x 1400 horsepower of diesel generator provides the backup facility on the loss of utility power. 15000 gallons of diesel fuel is stored in double wall fiberglass underground fuel storage tanks. The entire power infrastructure including cages and cabinets are properly grounded. The data center has environmental friendly cooling towers and condense water pump for automating the temperature. 24-inch raised floor and drop ceiling provides efficient air handling, and is maintained by CRAH units. The data center has Liebert water leak detection system, and also installed with Foreseer and JACE building management system to monitor all critical infrastructure.
Andover data center is a carrier neutral facility and is connected to the TierPoint network via fully redundant OC48s. These are connected to three network access points including Westborough, Boston, and New York City. SLA covers network availability at 99.995%, which matches the Tier IV criterion. The network infrastructure is Cisco certified core network, and access to TierPoint MPLS network. TierPoint utilize Internet and MPLS connectivity via multiple fiber routes in and out of colocation, as well as diverse paths to the Internet. TierPoint utilizes a suite of monitoring tools and methods to provide proactive notification of server or service affecting events. 24 x 7 x 365 TAC center provides help desk services to the customers, and also continuously monitors critical events.
