SoftLayer Dallas Data Center – DAL06

The Dallas SoftLayer data center (DAL06) is located at 1950 N. Stemmons Freeway, and is one of six SoftLayer data centers in Dallas, Texas. SoftLayer builds out its data center facilities using an innovative “pod” design. Each facility consists of one or more pods, with each pod built to the same specifications using best-in-class methodologies. The facility provides anti static raised floor and hosts more than 19,000 dedicated servers. The data center is SSAE16 SOC I certified, meeting industry-recognized requirements for security and reliability. The facility has digital security video surveillance, and access to the data center is authenticated through security badge system. The data center has redundant power feeds delivering diverse power to the building, and 9000 amps 480V of input power. The data center infrastructure is protected by 2 x 750 kVA and 8 x 500 kVA UPS systems in case of power failure, and automatic transfer facility to 4 x 2 MW diesel generators with on-site fuel storage. The data center cooling and humidity is controlled by redundant 50 ton Liebert HVAC units. The pre action dry pipe fire suppression system is the standard for fire protection in this facility.

SoftLayer data centers are functionally independent with distinct and redundant resources, and fully integrated through SoftLayer’s dedicated network architecture with 20 Gbps fiber link, automatic failover through alternate secure connections, 16 Network Point of Presence (POPs), and secure high-speed data transmissions between data centers. These data centers are built from industry-leading hardware and equipment manufacturers, ensuring the highest level of performance, reliability, and interoperability. SoftLayer deploys Cisco 6500 and 3750X switches throughout the data center. Every upstream network port is a multiple 10G and every rack is terminated with 40G of connectivity. This includes two 10G connections to the public Internet and two 10G connections to SoftLayer private network. The server rack has been built out with the same, standardized methodology to streamline deployment, minimize error and create a fast resolution to any problem. Each server comes with triple network ports, for segregated Public Network, Private Network and Management Network access. The Network Operation Center operates 24 x 7 by professionals, who are managing solutions with customized, detailed reporting, and escalation process.
