QTS’s (Quality Technology Services) Sacramento data center is located at 1100 North Market Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95834. Located less than 90 miles from San Francisco, this facility, formerly owned and operated by Herakles, LLC, provides superior colocation and disaster recovery options for small, medium and large businesses. The data center is seismically neutral, and has a Zone 4 standard steel beam Super Support system construction with an importance factor of 1.5. The data center offers office spaces, and roof space for client antenna installations.
The California colocation services are provided through cabinets, caged space, and private rooms. The data center provides a total of 92,000 square feet of enclosed space including 54,500 square feet of 24 inches raised floor. The data center is SSAE 16 SOC I type II certified. The facility features an excellent security measures by employing security guards 24×7 on site, 72 fixed or pan and tilt cameras for video surveillance, and entrance passing through armor-plated riot glass. All building entrances require card key access while data center floor and secured area access requires card key and two-factor biometric authentication including finger print, iris scan, and a mantrap entrance. The pre action double interlock dry pipe fire suppression system with VESDA control is installed throughout the facility.
A total power capacity of 9.0 MW is provided by a dedicated, on-site, 69 kV Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) substation that is fed by redundant substations located a quarter-mile away at the regional Natomas-Area SMUD complex. The power failure is protected by 10 UPS systems in N+1 configuration, and capable of holding critical load for 25 minutes. The secondary power to the facility is provided through N+1 configured 4 x 2 MW of diesel generators with 16,000 gallon fuel tank capable of providing continuous operations for three days. An advanced Automated Building Management System (ABMS) provides information from more than 18,000 hardwired nodes located throughout the facility. The 24 feet ceiling height is designed as cooling reservoir. 6 x 500 tons water-cooled chiller units provide 3,000 tons of cooling capacity for the facility, and 72 x 30 tons CRAH units cool raised floor areas while 13 of them are for redundancy at full load.
The data center is a carrier neutral facility providing access to multiple providers for local fiber, Internet connectivity. The data center has dual entry, dual fiber vault with diverse-path fiber, and connectivity provided to customers within the facility via dual self-healing SONET rings which enter the building through diverse underground conduits.
