The data center provides a very secure environment with no windows in facility, no data center walls to exterior of building; CCTV and motion detectors surveillance of all entry, exit, building, and data center areas; authorized user access only; key locks; and fail safe alarming system. The key card and code access authentication is required to gain access to data center floor. The data center uses state of the fire detection and suppression system, including FM 200 fire suppression system, dual interlocked pre action dry pipe fire suppression system, early warning smoke and heat detectors. The data center has also water held apparatus outside critical equipment area, and zone specific discharge of pre action system. The server room has been fire protected on all four walls to protect fire creep from outside source.
Naperville data center is a reliable and fault tolerant N+1 power infrastructure. The APC UPS system in N+1 redundant configuration provides the protected and conditioned power to the infrastructure, with automatic transfer of load to hospital grade diesel generators with fuel storage for 24 hours continuous runtime and refueling contracts. The generators are tested on regular basis at full load. The data center uses high capacity circuit distribution to prevent circuit failures, and provides 120V/208V single phase and three phase AC power. Each rack can be provided up to 60 Amps of power circuit, with redundant A/B power going through separate circuit breakers. The data center has 24×7 electrical circuit load monitoring and management. The cooling and humidity in the data center is moderated through HVAC/CRAC units in N+1 redundant configuration. The data center also uses leak detection system under all the raised floor, with cooling and humidity in the data center is maintained according by the ANSI 942 and ASHRAE standards.
