The data center provides amenities like conference rooms, kitchen, hallways, rest rooms, and other common areas. The data center also provides utilities like gas, electric, water, taxes, and maintenance. The data center is a single story building, and was constructed in 1999.
The data center is being developed to provide state of the art Internet and Telecommunications facilities to small businesses in the Western New York area. The building provides 10,600 square feet of total space, including 8,600 square feet of offices and 2,000 square feet of colocation space. The data center offers 19″ Chatsworth open rack and 19″ Chatsworth Megaframe enclosed racks. The data center security is separate from building security. The data center uses FM200 fire suppression system for any fire spark.
Amherst data center provides a reliable power infrastructure with 480V, 400A three phase power. The immediate power failure is protected by Powerware 150 kVA UPS system that is designed for full building coverage. The standby power is provided by 150 kW diesel generator with automatic transfer switch on the loss of utility power. The 8 x air conditioning system with 4 redundant units effectively moderates the cooling and humidity in the data center for the optimized performance of all hardware equipment.
The data center is a carrier neutral facility offering connectivity to multiple network providers, and service providers. The data center also offers 10 MB of Internet connectivity options. The data center is DS0, PRI, CT1, CT3, T3, OC3, OC12 capable facility. OC-12 and OC-24 Sonet ring is provided by Adelphia Communications. The backbone connectivity is also available (DS3) with 100MB Full Duplex Ethernet connectivity. The data center network infrastructure is based on dual redundant routers of Cisco 7507 series VIP2 50 dual processor routers.
