Liquid Web’s Lansing data center 2 is located at 4428 S. Creyts Rd., Lansing, MI 48917, and one three facilities in Lansing. These three highly secure data centers are geographically located in a disaster neutral area of the US. The data center is a Tier IV infrastructure facility.
The colocation services are provided through cabinets, caged space, locked cabinets, and private POD space. The data center provides 32,000 square feet of secure data center space and has capacity to house 8,000 servers. The data center is a SSAE 16 SOC III, HIPAA compliant, and Safe Harbor certified facility providing security, integrity, privacy, and confidentiality. The data center is designed to feature most up to date security measures that include manned security on premise, an advanced CCTV surveillance camera setup complemented by a full host of motion detecting sensors, biometric physical controls, and man traps on all entrances. The site entrance is controlled by electronic perimeter access card system and is monitored remotely by 3rd party security company.
Lansing data center 2 power systems feature N+1 power infrastructure with extensive fault tolerance and resilience at every layer. The 2,500 kVA utility power is routed underground to a dedicated onsite transformer which routes to automatic transfer switch that monitors power quality. The immediate power failure is protected by redundant 500 kVA Powerware UPS in N+1 configuration, featuring redundant battery cabinets and full maintenance bypass cabinets allowing for service and upgrades without interruption of power to servers. The data center load is maintained by the UPS units with at least 15 minutes of capacity, however this is not necessary as the generator is active and up to speed within 10 seconds of a power failure. Liebert Precision power distribution units handle final power transformation and distribution to racks, ensuring clean consistent power to data center equipment. The facility has multiple 1,250 kVA Kohler emergency generators in N+1 redundancy waiting on standby, featuring over 24 hours of autonomous runtime before requiring refueling. Each generator is test run at least once a week to ensure they are ready in the event they are needed. Generator power is activated automatically in the event of a utility failure by the transfer switch. The cooling and humidity in the data center is controlled by redundant Liebert Precision 22 ton up flow air conditioning units in N+1 redundancy. Each unit contains independent compressors and cooling loops to further enhance fault tolerance and reliability. Air filtration systems actively remove foreign particulates from circulation and cycle the entire data center air supply in a matter of minutes.
The data center is a carrier neutral facility providing connectivity to multiple Tier-I bandwidth providers, ensuring minimal latency and fast connections to all points of the global Internet. The data center provides 100% network uptime guarantee. The data center boasts multi-tiered redundancy with N+1 internal device elements and entirely redundant chassis. The data center has redundant Fiber entrance expandable to 1840 Gigabits per second and multiple redundant Gigabit Ethernet links to DC1. The network gear includes redundant Gigabit Ethernet links to each rack switch, Cisco 6509 Sup720 distribution switches, and Cisco 2960 48 Port 10/100 rack switches. The data center provides heroic support that includes phone, chat, and e-mail support 24 x 7 x 365. The support services are provided by Level 3 engineers onsite.
