INAP’s Houston data center (HOU) is located at 1301 Fannin St., Suite 1100, Houston, TX 77022. The data center is located in in Houston’s premier carrier hotel with convenient access to highways, airports, and hotels. The building built in 1983 has seismic zone 0 rating, and is outside the floodplain. The building is structural steel and reinforced concrete construction. This 26 story building is also built to withstand extreme weather events and is 200 MPH wind rated. The facility provides amenities like fully equipped office space, conference room, technical workspace and adjacent breakdown rooms, and full service lounge.
The data center offers a number of colocation options, including cabinets in half and full sizes, and custom private caged space. INAP uses Chatsworth Products’ 4-Post QuadraRack ServerFrame which provides a highly secure storage environment. The data center provides 41,000 square feet of colocation space, and 16 feet of clear ceiling height. Antistatic raised floor provides the efficient cooling and easy management of cabling system. The facility is regularly audited in accordance with SSAE 16 Type II requirements. The data center provides the state of the art security measures, including 24x7x365 security guards onsite, CCTV monitoring through 22 cameras with archiving of data for 6 months, and intrusion detection system. The entrance to the data center floor is authenticated through the use of card key and biometric scan. The facility uses both wet pipe, and multi zone pre action dry pipe fire suppression system for the life safety. The facility has VESDA control, subfloor smoke detection facility, and is remotely monitored.
Houston (HOU) data center is a reliable and fault tolerant N+1 power infrastructure with concurrently maintainable power system. The power the data center is delivered through redundant power feeds by Houston Public Utilities via quad transformers. The entire critical infrastructure is protected by 1 x 650 kVA Liebert UPS system, 3 x 500 kVA GE UPS system, and 1 x 1,200 kVA APC UPS system in N+1 redundancy on power failure. The secondary power is provided by 2 x 2 MW Caterpillar diesel generators onsite. The DC battery bank provides 20 minutes of backup time on full load, and delivers A+B redundant circuits to customers’ equipment. The cooling and humidity in the data center is maintained by 4 x 1,200 tons York cooling towers in N+1 configuration. The hot aisle, cold aisle separation and passive cooling solutions maximize cooling efficiencies.
1301 Fannin St. is a carrier neutral facility with robust carrier neutral meet-me-room, including alternative transit and local access options. The data center offers 100% network uptime SLA. INAP’s multi-homed route optimized Performance IP provides links up to 10GB through multiple top tier carriers. 24x7x365 NOC staff provides the helpdesk and support services, and remote hands services.
