The GramTel data center is located at 1850 Springer Drive Lombard, IL 60148. The data center resides 20 miles west of the heart of downtown Chicago and close to O’Hare International Airport and within 1 mile to 10 national chain hotels. The GramTel data center offers a total of 30,000 square feet of space, 14,000 square feet of which is 24 and 36 inches of raised floor white space for the colocation services. The expansion facility is also available for custom data halls and office spaces. The Illinois data center is SSAE 16 SOC 2 certified and provides excellent security features that include 24×7 on site security guards, and video surveillance and recording of the exterior and interior of facility. The data center access is allowed through biometric scans, and key cards that are color coded. The colocation services are provided through cabinets, caged space, and private suites.
The facility is built to top-tier standards, and boasts two diverse and redundant utility power feeds. A total of 3.5 MW of power are available from two transformers, 1.5 MW and 2 MW, fed from a single upstream feeder, and 150 kVA PDU with single feed. GramTel has installed High Performance Computing (HPC) which is capable of supporting 250 wpsf with the ability to support over 1,000 wpsf. The emergency power to data center is provided through scalable 2.5 MW Cummins dedicated generators with 8000 gallons site capacity configured as N+1 redundancy. The raised floor is designed for controlling cooling to the data center and is maintained through N+1 CRAC units with 420 tons cooling capacity and Glycol cooling loops. The Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) system; sampling air in parts per million coupled with a zonal dual action interlocking dry-pipe system, is installed in the data center for life safety.
