Global Access Point’s Union Station data center is located at 506 W. South Street, South Bend, IN 46601. The data center has a grand hall, wireless lounge area, conference rooms and office spaces. Both locations, the Union Station and Indianapolis, offer the only two carrier hotels in the state of Indiana.
The data center offers half cabinet or full cabinet colocation, rack space, 10 x 10 feet of caged space, and upto 20,000 square feet of data suites. The data center provides 93,000 square feet of space, and is solid construction with floor load of 450 lbs. per square feet. The data center provides 24 x 7 x 365 security staff, video surveillance, and card key entry. FM200 fire suppression is installed in the data center for suppressing any fire spark in the data center.
The data center has a very reliable power infrastructure with dual commercial power feeds. A total of 10 MVA of power is served through three power substations. The emergency power supply is provided by UPS system that is backed by diesel generators. Tenants have the ability to bring redundant ‘A’ and ‘B’ power feeds into their space, cage, or cabinet. The data center provides 120V, 208V single phase and 208V three phase AC power, and 48V DC power with 8 hours of battery backup. HVAC units effectively controls cooling and humidity in the data center.
Union Station data center is a carrier neutral facility, and provides access to over 50 telecommunication companies who touch the Global Access Point network in South Bend, Chicago, and Indianapolis. The building is outfitted with 13 entrance paths for cable and fiber in order to meet the diverse needs of the carriers as well as take advantage of the high density of fiber optic that runs through the South Bend. The carriers have a total of 24 separate fiber bundles, each between 48 and 288 fibers, entering the building. As part of the build-out as a carrier hotel, Union Station has conduit banks which run the entire length of the building on 3 levels for ease of internal connectivity. The building also features an active and passive ‘Meet Me Room’ for ease of carrier and customer interconnects.
