Expedient’s Indianapolis data center offers clients a secure, efficient and cost-effective environment for their IT infrastructure assets. The data center is over 38,000 square feet, with over 12,000 square feet of raised floor space. The data center’s operation console control center deploys a multi-layered security system that includes 24 hour a day, seven day a week security personnel, a biometric screening system and card key entry. FM-200 as well as a dry pipe fire suppression system protect assets from any kind of fire threat. Security, power and network capacity is monitored at all times and predictive modeling is deployed so that problems can be identified before they occur. Finally, the network is powered by a Cisco back bone with redundant routers which eliminates single point failures and provides uninterrupted data flow across the network. These redundant systems are also why the data center is SSAE-16 and PCI certified.
In order to maintain maximum uptime, power, network and cooling systems are state of the art, and employ multiple redundancies. The power system is anchored by 4 300kVA flywheel UPS units, and power is fed into the facility via three separate utility feeds. This allows for up to 325 watts of power per square foot. Two caterpillar generators are also on site which can produce 4,000 kilowatts of additional power when necessary. 6,000 gallons of fuel is also located on-site. The cooling system consists of 700 tons of HVAC and a redundant UPS system, set up in a N+1 configuration. A specialized computer room controls the HVAC temperature control systems throughout the facility, with separate cooling zones.
In addition to its Indianapolis data center, Expedient operates 9 data centers throughout the United States, including east coast locations such as Boston and Baltimore, and mid-west locations such as Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.
