DataBank’s Houston data center (West) is located at 5150 Westway Park Houston, TX 77041. The facility is located 20 minutes west of downtown Houston just off Beltway 8 between I-10 and 290, and is surrounded by well-appointed hotels and several restaurants. The data center is strategically positioned with access to significant and redundant utility power feeds. The hardened facility is outside the FEMA 500 year flood plain and features a reinforced roof and concrete walls.
The Houston West data center expansion project make this site the largest digital energy campus for the oil and gas industry in Houston and a geophysical center of excellence for seismic exploration computing. Additionally, with the healthcare industry forecast to see 800% growth in data storage over the next 5 years, the Houston West data center is built to scale.
Colocation services are provided through cabinets, caged space, and private suites. The data center provides 300,000 square feet of space. The data center is a SSAE 16 SOC I Type certified, HIPPA and PCI compliant, TIA 942 Class 4 enabled, and USGBC LEED certified. The data center provides state of the art security with perimeter fence, onsite security guards, revolving entrance doors, and video surveillance with recording of interior and exterior of facility. The access to data center is restricted through a series biometric and key card authentication with mantrap.
The data center built to top-tier standards offering 100% SLA on power. Multiple levels of power redundancy are available in N, 2N, and N+1 configuration, and provide 40 MW of critical power capacity. The facility has dual input PDUs with static transfer switches, and provides dedicated 2.25 MW diesel generator for emergency power with 3,300 gallons belly tank plus an added 6,000 gallon external tank for every two generators. The data center power cables are High Performance Computing (HPC) capable, supporting 250 Watts per square feet, and capable of supporting 1000 Watts per square feet.
The 42 inches raised floor design provides the cooling and temperature control in the data center through a combination of cooling technologies including Stultz 70-ton CRAC units, and Highly efficient multiple EPAK 500 ton chillers configured as N+1 redundancy. The dual action interlocking dry pipe fire suppression with VESDA control is installed in the data center for safety. The data center is a carrier neutral facility. The data center is located along a major fiber corridor in Houston, and has access to the fastest and most reliable telecommunications networks. The data center has 24×7 support staff available in Network Operation Centers with remote hands facility available.
