The Carpathia’s Ashburn data center is located at 21701 Filigree Ct., Bldg. D, and is a Tier III facility. The Campus is approximately 6.5 miles from Dulles International Airport, 34 miles from Reagan national Airport, 62 miles from Baltimore-Washington Airport, and 34 miles from the White House. Due to the area’s strategic importance as the Eastern hub of traffic exchange to the U.S., this data center is one of the largest Internet exchange points in the world. The facility offers a comprehensive suite of hosting services addressing SAS 70 type II, HIPAA, and PCI compliance requirements. All points of ingress/egress are monitored by Intrusion Deduction System, and security cameras are located around the perimeter of the building monitoring outside the building and roof. The access points to the facility are monitored and controlled by an access control sub system that uses hand geometry reader, interfaced with a security database. The authorized users are entered into the system and access events are archived for a period of time.
The N+1 configured power to the data center is fed by 6 transformers, and power failure is protected by 6,560 kW, and 7,289 kW UPS system configured as N+1 redundancy. The Ashburn colocation services are provided through standard cabinets, and caged space with diverse power options to cabinets including 4 kW, and 6 kW. The 5 x 650 ton water cooled chilled water units, and rooftop air handlers are installed to effectively moderate the temperature, airflow and humidity conditions in the data center for efficient operation of IT equipment. Fire suppression is provided by multi zoned. double interlocked, pre action dry pipe with VESDA smoke deduction system.
The Carpathia Ashburn data center is a carrier neutral facility, and diverse fiber vaults are located at either end of the facility to provide primary and protected fiber paths. The fiber vault is concrete reinforced to prevent fiber cuts, and has monitoring for unauthorized access. The Carpathia data center provides cross connects so you can choose from single mode fiber, multi mode fiber, CAT 5/6, T1, and POTS. Carpathia has developed an Intelligent Routing Network (CIRN™), that is built exclusively a top N+1 redundant, hot failover Cisco hardware, and analyze each one of the transit providers and peers for latency, jitter, and packet loss before automatically selecting the highest performance IP network. The support services are provided 24×7 by highly technical proficient professionals with certifications in multiple IT competencies.
