1301 Fannin – Houston Data Center

1301 Fannin is a 24 story, high rise office facility with a vast majority of amenities including a world class Tier III data center, and is located in Houston central business district at 1301 Fannin St., Houston, TX 77002. The building is easily accessible from all the freeways and major arteries; located on metro bus lines, one block from metro rail, and one block from the tunnel access; adjacent to Houston Pavilions; and is at 30 minutes’ drive from both Hobby and Bush airports. The building was constructed in 1984, and built to withstand extreme weather conditions with exterior windows rated at 200 MPH. The building provides amenities such as conference rooms, office spaces, Starbuck coffee shop, Luby’s Cafeteria, fitness center with shower, garage parking, and high speed elevators.

The data center provides colocation solutions from single cabinet, multiple cabinets, as per required square feet of contiguous space, and offers wholesale colocation options. The 784,143 square feet building is separated into three distinct areas, parking space; 400,000 square feet of data center space; and 260,000 square feet of class A office space. The data center provides clear height of 16′ and 18″ raised floor space that is designed for the floor load capacity of 150 lbs. per square feet. The data center provides multiple levels of physical security including 24x7x365 onsite security guards, digital camera surveillance system, programmable after hours card key building access, and restricted card key access system to gain entry to colocation area. The building also has a fire command center onsite for extinguishing any fire spark.

The Houston data center provides a reliable and fault tolerant N+1 power infrastructure. The 24 MW of power to building is provided through two diverse utility feeds from Polk street substation, and manual switch to alternative substation. The 8×3,000 kVA power transformers onsite support all building systems. The data center has N+1 2,000 kVA UPS system with battery backup that delivers power through one separate 2,000 Amps busway. The data center provides 6×1040 kW and 3×2,000 kW emergency diesel generators in two N+1 redundant farms synchronized by parallel switching system. These diesel generators have six fuel storage and day tanks totaling 70,000 gallons of capacity ensure backup power for all building electrical loads. All electrical, UPS, and generator systems are located on 13th floor of the Building to ensure flooding will never be a problem. The N+1 redundant 4×1,200 tons chillers, 2 x cooling towers with one redundant, and 3x chilled water risers effectively control cooling and humidity levels in the data center.

1301 Fannin Street data center is a carrier neutral facility with connectivity to multiple carriers and service providers. The building has 10+ fiber tenants, and primary fiber in CBD located along Fannin street.
