Expedient’s Boston data center offers clients a secure, efficient and cost-effective environment for their IT infrastructure assets. The data center is over 38,000 total square feet. The data center’s operation console control center deploys a multi-layered security system that includes 24 hour a day, seven day a week security personnel, continuous video surveillance, biometric hand access and key card access control. A VESDA air sampling system and a Viking 3 stage fire suppression system also protects assets from any kind of fire threat. Security, power and network capacity is monitored at all times and predictive modeling is deployed so that problems can be identified before they occur. Finally, the network is powered by a Cisco back bone with redundant routers which eliminates single point failures and provides uninterrupted data flow across the network. These redundant systems are also why the data center is SSAE-16 and PCI certified.
In order to maintain maximum uptime, power, network and cooling systems are state of the art, and employ multiple redundancies. Dual 4000 AMP power feeds deliver power to the facility, and the architecture is anchored by 4 500kVA Powerware UPS systems. Three 2.2 megawatt Diesel generators are also on site which can produce over 6 megawatts of additional power when necessary. There are also over 30,000 gallons of diesel on-site. The cooling system consists of 35 Liebert and airflow CRAC units handlers which provide over 750 tons of cooling, set up in a N+1 configuration and the operations control center monitors and regulates temperature and humidity at all times.
In addition to its Boston data center, Expedient operates 9 data centers throughout the United States, including east coast locations such as Boston and Baltimore, and mid-west locations such as Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. In addition to its colocation services, Expedient offers clients additional managed services such as cloud computing, managed servers, virtual on-demand, and managed exchange email.
