Caronet – Charlotte Data Center (Center Park)

Caronet’s Charlotte (Center Park) data centers are located at 900 Center Park Dr., Charlotte, NC 28217. Caronet operates three state of the art data center facilities i.e. DC1, DC2, and DC3 in this central park location. The data centers are located in a single story building, with new 7.5″ steel reinforced tilt up concrete wall structure. The facility provides loading docks and secure equipment staging area of 250 square feet.

The data center offers managed and unmanaged colocation and is provided as rack space in 1U increment, half locking cabinet, one third locking cabinet, full locking cabinet, and customized cage space starting from 10’x10′ units to 1000’s of square feet. The data centers provide 116,500 square feet of total enclosed space that includes 35,000 square feet of data center space. The raised floor space is designed for subfloor cable management and efficient airflow. The data center is a certified SSAE 16 SOC I complaint facility. The level 3 and level 4 tiered security in the data center is maintained through CCTV cameras monitoring interior and exterior, individually locked colocation cages and cabinets, 24x7x365 secure access, electronic proximity key card verification access, and biometric palm scanner verification access. The data center uses pre action dry pipe fire suppression system from protection from any fire hazard.

The Center Park data centers provide a reliable and fault tolerant N+1 power infrastructure. The power to the data is fed through redundant power feeds and multiple dedicated provider transformers by Duke Energy. Caronet also advantage with green energy initiatives where solar panels were added to the roof of its DC3 facility. The entire critical infrastructure is protected by multiple UPS system in N+1 redundant configuration on the loss of utility power. The standby diesel generators provide emergency backup power on the prolonged power outage. The power to each rack is delivered in A,B or A&B sourced power feeds; and power options include both 110V and 208V single phase, and 220V and 480V three phase. The facility supports low power density of 2.5 kW per cabinet and high power density of 5 kW per cabinet. Multiple HVAC units and air cooled CRAC units in N+1 redundancy controls the environment in hot aisle/cold aisle cabinet layout.

Caronet’s 900 Center Park Dr. data center is a carrier neutral facility with connectivity to multiple carriers and service providers. The data center provides a fully redundant network infrastructure featuring Brocade NetIron MLX -16 switches and Force10 E600 border router that communicate internally via iBGP. The data center has diverse fiber entrance providing redundant 10g feeds, and has implemented a collapsed core/distribution layer design. The technical staff provides monitoring, support, and remote hands services.
